The oh-so-delicious Key West Grill

The 4th of July weekend was coming to a close and I wanted to make the end of it memorable. Monday night rolled around and I found myself wanting to branch out of the norm and try something different: I drove over to Broadway At The Beach and decided to search for a good place to eat. And on a busy weekend such as this one, that was a brave move. As I ventured around, watching never ending lines grow longer and longer, I noticed a restaurant with a minimal line and wonderful atmosphere on the water, the Key West Grill.

Immediately after my name was added to the wait list, I made my way over to the elaborately decorated bar where a delicious (and impressive) Mai Tai occupied my ten minute wait. Equally as impressed as I was anticipating the food that I saw everyone eating, I proceeded to check out the menu: a delicious spread of seafood (such as stuffed shrimp, sea scallps, tail-on whole flounder, and oysters), pasta (such as seafood fettuccine, Tortuga pasta, and Lobster pasta), steaks (such as New York Strip, crab encrusted Filet Mignon, and Cut of Prime Rib) and salads (such as the Key West signature salad, and the various Caesar salads). I decided to try the Potato Canoes, which consisted of applewood-smoked bacon, and Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses, served with sour cream and salsa. Both crispy and soft, these potato wedges served as a pleasant alternative to typical French fries.

I proceeded to order a half-size Caesar salad that, just like the Potato Canoes, impressed my taste buds with a creamy Caesar dressing, chopped up tomato, and buttery croutons.

While I will admit that it seems a bit strange to go to a restaurant such as this and order anything less than a large, juicy steak or a Captain's Platter of seafood, I found myself wanting to try something a little lighter and unique: I opted for the Sunset Burger with sweet potato fries. This mouthwatering burger comes topped with poblano pepper marinara, provolone cheese, and herb-roasted garlic mayonnaise, and the combination of the three really set the flavor on fire. The slightest hint of spice truly made the garlic mayonnaise that much more enjoyable.
