The largest father & son golf event in the world, the PGA Tour Superstore National Father & Son Team Classic is a 3-day, 54-hole competition. The tournament will be played at several of the Grand Strand's top-rated golf courses on July 20-23, 2016.
The tournament is open to 2-man teams composed of fathers and sons, grandfathers and grandsons, stepfathers and stepsons, fathers and sons in law, uncles and nephews or any combination of players as long as there is a generation gap between them (players don't have to be related).
The 2016 tournament is a 54-hole competition of Two Man Captain's Choice (*modified), Two Man Better Ball and Two Man Alternate Shot.
Courses for this year's Father & Son Team Classic Tournament include Grande Dunes Resort Club, Prestwick Country Club, Legends Golf Club's Heathland Course, Barefoot Resort's Love Course, Myrtle Beach National's King's North Course, Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club, Rivers Edge Golf Club, Panthers Run Golf Links and Thistle Golf Club.
Teams are flighted based upon the team's handicap total (USGA handicap). Sandbaggers beware. The Father & Son Team Classic tournament committee goes to great lengths to protect the integrity of the tournament.
Registration will be held on July 20, 2016 from 8 am to 5 pm at PGA Tour Superstores. Teams with the father's last name beginning with A-K register at the Myrtle Beach PGA TOUR Superstore at 1400 29th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Teams with the father's last name beginning with L-Z register at the North Myrtle Beach PGA TOUR Superstore at 2310 Highway 17 S, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
On Thursday the first round, a Two Man Captain's Choice (*modified) format, kicks off with an 8:30 am shotgun start. Head over to Legends Golf & Resort Driving Range for a "Family Affair" from 5 pm until 8 pm. The event features a cookout, a Father & Son Skills Challenge and Demo Alley.
The second round begins at 8:30 am on Friday with a Two Man Better Ball format.
On Saturday, the final round begins at 8 am to 8:30 am with a Two Man Alternate Shot format. Shotgun start times will be staggered according to golf course. A player's cookout and awards ceremony will take place at Legends Golf & Resort from 12:30 pm until 4 pm.
The tournament entry fee is $995 per team. The entry fee covers golf related fees for all 3 tournament rounds, the Father &; Son Skills Challenge & Demo Alley at Legends Golf & Resort Driving Range, daily lunch at the course, closing day cookout and the awards ceremony.
In addition, every competitor in this year's Father & Son Team Classic will receive a $200 gift card, Father & Team Classic headwear, shirt, bag tag and a sleeve of logoed golf balls.
