Myrtle Beach Pelicans Season Opener - April 3
The Texas Rangers' Class-A Advanced Affiliate, Myrtle Beach Pelicans kick off their season with a 7:05 pm start at home against the Salem Red Sox. 18 fireworks shows, weekly theme nights and giveaways are planned throughout the season. Individual game tickets start at $8. To purchase tickets in-person or by phone, normal box office hours are Monday thru Friday from 10 am until 5 pm. SOS Spring Safari - April 4-13
Shaggers will pour onto the Grand Strand for the Society of Stranders Spring Safari. You'll find a myriad of activities taking place in North Myrtle Beach during the 10-day event: parties at local clubs, live music, shag classes, the SOS parade and much more. Come enjoy the exciting nightlife along Main Street OD and make sure you stop by the ever popular Fat Harold's Beach Club, Pirate's Cove Lounge and Ducks Beach Club. BBQ Battle at the Beach
BBQ Battle at the Beach - April 4-5
During the Inaugural BBQ Battle at The Beach, the top BBQ Pitmasters in South Carolina will be competing at the Beaver Bar. On Friday from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm, BBQ Pitmasters will go head to head in a Wings 'n Things competiton. Friday night, side items will be available from local food vendors and beverages will be sold at the bar. On Saturday from 11 am until 1 pm, teams compete in a BBQ event sanctioned by the SC BBQ Association. The event features all-you-can-eat BBQ with coleslaw and rolls plus live music and a live auction. Advance tickets for both days will be sold at the Beaver Bar. Friday night advance tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for kids. Advance tickets for Saturday are $10 for adults and $6 for kids. Event proceeds go to The Outreach Farm to help them combat hunger by supporting Lowcountry charities. International Quidditch Association World Cup Video
International Quidditch Association World Cup - April 5
Harry Potter fans will be thrilled to know that Quidditch is coming to the Grand Strand! At Vermont's Middlebury College, the competition was adapted from the fantasy game featured in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The real life version of Quidditch is a full contact, co-ed sport with 14 players, four balls and one human snitch. The 2014 International Quidditch Association World Cup VII will be played in the brand new North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. The Quidditch World Cup has grown from a competition between two Northeastern schools into an exciting event featuring the best 80 teams from around the world. Several regional championship tournaments are held to allow teams from around the world to compete for a spot in the World Cup. For more information, check out this Quidditch World Cup video.

Art in the Park - April 5-6
The Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild holds six Art in the Park shows throughout the year in Chapin Park and Valor Park to give artists an opportunity to display and sell their work. On April 5th and 6th, Art in the Park will bring a myriad of exhibitors including talented artists from around the country to Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach. Work on display will include paintings, photography, baskets, jewelry, yard art, stained glass, pottery, furniture, quilts, sun catchers, dolls, pet goods, bird houses, crocheted and knitted items, flowers, wreaths, window art/mosaics, sculptures, hand painted glass, hats, bags, belts, stoneware, ceramics, cooking tools and more. Once again, the popular Boathouse Summer Concert Series brings FREE live concerts to the Grand Strand on Sunday Fundays. 23rd Annual Spring Tide: A Day for the Inlet - April 6
The largest one-day community clean-up event in South Carolina, Spring Tide brings volunteers together to clean up the creek and streets in Murrells Inlet, SC. The event kicks off at Morse Park Landing with a 9:45 am invocation. Check in at the Hot Fish Club to receive clean-up assignments. At 1 pm, head back to the Hot Fish Club for live music and the "Best Damn Chowder Cook-off". You'll enjoy great chowder from more than fifteen area restaurants. 4th Annual F.L.A.V.O.R. - April 8
You don't want to miss Myrtle Beach's 4th Annual F.L.A.V.O.R. (fresh, local, appetizing, valuable, original, restaurants). The culinary event takes place from 4 pm until 7:30 pm at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Come sample amazing cuisine from more than 30 Grand Strand restaurants, enjoy wine tastings and more. Horry-Georgetown Technical College culinary students will be competing for scholarship money. Admission to the family-friendly event is free and sample tickets will be on sale inside.

MarshWalk Masters - April 12
Put your knickers on to compete for cash and prizes as you putt your way along the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet, SC. You'll play a hole at nine restaurants on the MarshWalk and the lowest score wins. First Place cash prizes of $400 each will be awarded for the golfer with the lowest net score (with mulligans) and the golfer with the lowest gross score (without mulligans). Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Best Dressed Golfer. The cost is $20 per golfer and unlimited mulligans are available for $5 each. Visit marshwalk.com for more information.

Habitat for Humanity's 2nd Annual Bed Race - April 12
We had a great time at last year's event and expect an even bigger event in 2014! Head over to Broadway at the Beach and take part in the Habitat for Humanity's Annual Bed Race or just watch the fun! The Bed Race begins near the Hard Rock Cafe at 10 am. Bed race teams consist of 4 runners and a rider. Prizes will be awarded for 1st Place, 2nd Place, Best Team Theme and Most Money Raised. Lost at Sea Annual Memorial Ceremony - April 13
The Lost at Sea Annual Memorial Ceremony will take place at 2 pm at at Morse Park Landing next to the Hot Fish Club. Palmetto High School Golf Championship - April 17-19
Celebrating 17 years in Myrtle Beach, the Palmetto High School Golf Championship will be held April 17th through 19th. The tournament allows high school students of any ability to compete in a 54-hole tournament against students from public and private schools. The event will be played at Panther's Run, Lion's Paw and all 3 courses at Sea Trail. More info.

Earth Day Music Fest & Expo - April 18-20
The 7th Annual Earth Day Music Fest & Expo has expanded into an exciting, 3-day event. The event kicks off on Friday from 4 pm until midnight at the House of Blues Sugar Shack. On Saturday, the Earth Day Music Fest & Expo heads to Riverfront Park in downtown Conway, SC. Saturday's festival will take place from from 11 am until 6 pm and feature exciting, live music, food & drinks, an art show, a health & wellness expo and a kids area. 11th Annual Junior Golf Shootout - April 18-19
Fun for the entire family, the Junior Golf Shootout is an exciting 2-day, 36-hole competition open to players from 8 to 18 years old. The Shootout has both male and female divisions. The golf tournament will be played on the West and South Creek courses at Myrtle Beach National. Afternoon Double Tee times will be assigned on Friday and morning double tee times will be assigned on Saturday. The deadline for entry is noon on Monday, April 14th. Myrtle Beach Shopping Days - April 18-20
A city-wide shopping event, Myrtle Beach Shopping Days feature merchants promoting their business with outdoor displays, sidewalk sales & parking lot sales. Shoppers can camp on-site for up to 24 hours before Shopping Days begin, provided the property owner allows it. Regulations will be relaxed for 72 hours to allow for these outside shopping activities.

6th Annual Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival - April 26
Come see the dragon boat races in Grand Park at The Market Common. The 6th Annual Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival will take place from 8 am until 5 pm. During the festival, boats with a team of twenty paddlers and a drummer compete in a race to cross the finish line. Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo - April thru October
The Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo runs from April thru October. The rodeo was developed to promote recreational fishing along the Grand Strand and is open to recreational fisherman only. All fish entered must be caught on a rod and reel in the coastal waters from the South Santee River north to the North Carolina state line. Monthly prizes will be awarded. A panel of local, Grand Strand piers, the GSFR participates in monthly catch contests, tournaments and events.
