This past Friday was named Dolly Parton Day in South Carolina as Dolly Parton payed a special visit to Myrtle Beach to kick off the opening night of her newest interactive dinner show, Pirates Voyage! Tapping into the local legends of Blackbeard the pirate, who pillaged the Atlantic coast from the Outer Banks to the Caribbean, this spectacular show creates an adventure-filled experience with live animals, acrobatic competition, and brand new music by Dolly Parton.
Replacing the well-known and loved Dixie Stampede, Pirates Voyage dinner show promises fun, feast and adventure as two pirate camps, Crimson and Sapphire, battle for lost treasure. If you like pirates then you’ll love seeing them battle each other on deck, in the water and in the sky above their full-sized pirate ships in a 15-foot deep indoor hideaway lagoon. Prepare yourself for 30 actors tumbling, singing, dancing, swimming and sword fighting all while enjoying a 5 course pirate feast!
Before stepping onto the ships, guests are first invited into a pirate village, where sauntering musicians entertain with warm-up acts in two stations. Not only can children dig in a sandbox to find and make their own treasures of jewelry to take into the show, they can also get made up to look just like pirates with tattoos and patches!
As you enter the theater, there are with 1,000 seats for spectators surrounding the water with two vessels in a 15-foot-deep, 750,000-gallon lagoon bisecting the two audiences. Patrons are escorted to their seats on either the Crimson or Sapphire side. As diners overlook the Buccaneer Bay lagoon they are served a delicious 5 course feast including Voyager Creamy Vegetable Soup, Buccaneer Bread, Half O’ Roasted Cackler (chicken), BBQ Pork Shank, Crispy Fried Shrimp, Cob O’ Buttery Corn, Mashed & Flogged Taters, and Apple O’ Me Eye Pie to top it off.
Pirates Voyage offers fun for the whole family with shows at 4 pm, 6 pm, and 8 pm depending on the dates, with pre-show beginning an hour before.
