Myrtle Beach has once again been recognized as one of America’s Best Beaches for 2006 by the Travel Channel. The area was also named America's Best Thrillseeker Beach for 2006. In recent years, Myrtle Beach was recognized as the Best Family Beach for 2004 and one of America’s Best Beaches in 2003 and 2004. The Myrtle Beach Pavilion's oceanfront boardwalk was cited as one of the Best American Boardwalks for 2004.

The Myrtle Beach Pavilion boardwalk also received acclaim as one of the Best of America for 2006 by Reader’s Digest magazine readers.

Southern Accents magazine's 2nd annual Great Escapes Reader Travel Award Contest lists Myrtle Beach among the Top 10 in 3 categories: Favorite Beach Destination, Favorite Southern City for a Weekend Getaway and Favorite Golf/Spa Destination.

Myrtle Beach comes in at #2 in the Top 10 Beaches category according to a survey by National Geographic Traveler and Yahoo! Travel.

Once again Myrtle Beach is listed in AAA's Top 5 most popular destinations for vacationers traveling by car.

The Grand Strand has been recognized as a favorite travel destination by a poll of Southern Living magazine readers. Myrtle Beach shows up #2 in the South’s Favorite Beaches and #3 in the Most Popular Family Destination category.

Myrtle Beach and South Carolina's Grand Strand comes in at number 6 in the Best Beaches category and #1 among the most popular Beach Destination for People-Watching according to a recent poll of Endless Vacation Magazine readers.

Lycos.com ranks the Grand Strand #2 (right behind Disney World) among summer vacation spots most frequently searched for.
